Pile height, density, infill and drainage decide how long a pitch lasts and how it plays. Here is what to ask before you sign.
Choosing synthetic turf is not a cosmetic decision: it shapes player safety, pitch lifespan and maintenance costs for years. These are the points we ask every client to review:
Football pitches usually sit between 40 and 60 mm. Taller fibres feel closer to natural grass but need more infill and regular care.
A higher stitch density improves both looks and durability. Monofilament yarns are the most common choice for professional pitches thanks to their resilience and natural look.
Turf is filled with a layer of sand, then rubber granules or organic alternatives — this is what gives the surface its stability and reduces injuries.
The best turf will not last on a weak base. Make sure the build includes compacted base layers and designed drainage falls so water never ponds.
In a hot climate, choose a UV-stabilised product and ask for a written warranty that states what it covers and for how long.
